Restorative Dentistry

Orthodontics

Orthodontics is the branch of dentistry that corrects teeth and jaws that are positioned improperly. The benefits of orthodontic treatment include a healthier mouth, a more pleasing appearance, and teeth that are more likely to last a lifetime. Variety of mechanical devices, called appliances is used to direct the growth of the jaws, to alter muscle behavior, to move teeth and to retain the position of the teeth after treatment. Custom-made appliances, or braces, may be removable or be fixed by cementing or bonding. They may be made of metal, plastic, or both materials. Regular visits to the dentist should continue while braces are on because professional care and fluoridation remain an especially important part of dental health while the braces are affixed.

Implants

Dental implants are an ideal option for people who have lost a tooth or teeth due to gum disease, injury, or other reasons. Dental implants are metal posts or frames that are surgically inserted into the bone of the jaw (beneath your gums) to replace the root of a missing tooth.. Once in place, they allow your dentist to mount artificial tooth onto them. Because implants fuse to your jawbone, they provide stable support for fabricated teeth. Dentures and bridges mounted to implants won't slip or shift in your mouth. The secure fit helps the dentures and bridges and single crowns placed over implants to feel more natural than traditional bridges or dentures. To receive implants, you need to have healthy gums and adequate bone to support the implant. Patient must also commit to keeping implant structures healthy. Proper oral hygiene and regular dental visits are critical to the long-term success of dental implants.
